Selection Process

Selection process

At the Kuldeep Vedwan Sports Foundation, we follow a structured and comprehensive selection process to identify and recruit talented individuals who show promise in archery. Our goal is to select athletes who not only have the physical capabilities but also the mental strength and determination to succeed in this sport. The selection process ensures that each athlete receives the best possible training and support to help them achieve their full potential.

1. Initial Application & Registration
  • Online Registration: Applicants can fill out the registration form on our website, providing necessary details such as age, previous experience, and contact information.

  • Offline Registration: Candidates can visit one of our academies or training centers to complete the registration process.

2. Basic Eligibility Criteria
  • Age Group: We accept candidates from a wide range of age groups, starting from young beginners to adults. Specific age group requirements for different levels of training may vary.

  • Physical Fitness: A basic level of physical fitness is required, including good coordination, strength, and flexibility, as archery demands excellent physical conditioning.

  • Motivation & Commitment: Candidates must demonstrate a genuine interest in the sport and a willingness to commit to regular training and competition.

3. Screening and Assessment
  • Physical Assessment: A series of basic physical tests are conducted to assess stamina, strength, flexibility, and coordination. These tests are designed to identify the physical attributes needed for archery, including upper body strength, posture, and hand-eye coordination.

  • Mental Assessment: Since archery is a sport that requires significant mental focus and emotional control, we assess a candidate’s ability to remain calm under pressure, their focus levels, and their determination. This assessment may involve one-on-one interviews or simple observation during training sessions.

4. Skill Evaluation & Trial Sessions
  • Beginner Trial: For those with no previous experience in archery, we provide basic introductory sessions to assess their natural aptitude for the sport, including hand-eye coordination and focus.

  • Intermediate/Advanced Trial: For candidates with prior experience in archery, we conduct skill-based tests to evaluate their technique, consistency, and performance under pressure. These trials involve shooting at various distances and targets while maintaining accuracy.

5. Observation Period & Training Assessment
  • Coaching and Skill Development: During this period, the candidates will receive focused training on improving their form, consistency, and mental focus. Their ability to absorb training, improve technique, and respond to feedback is closely monitored.

  • Performance Tracking: Coaches will track their performance over time, noting improvements in accuracy, consistency, and overall skill development. We also monitor how well candidates cope with physical conditioning, mental exercises, and competition environments.

6. Final Selection
  • For Beginners: Candidates who show promise but require more fundamental training will be offered a place in our beginner programs, with a clear path for progression based on their performance.

  • For Intermediate and Advanced Athletes: More experienced athletes who demonstrate high potential will be invited to join our advanced training programs, with specific guidance on preparing for national and international competitions.
