The Kuldeep Vedwan Sports Foundation was established with a clear vision: to promote and develop archery as a prominent sport in India while providing aspiring archers with the training and mentorship they need to succeed. Our foundation is deeply rooted in the legacy of Coach Kuldeep Vedwan, a trailblazer in Indian archery, who has dedicated his life to the growth and success of the sport in India.
Coach Kuldeep Vedwan’s journey began in the small village of Dhanaura Tikri, Baghpat district, Uttar Pradesh, where he first discovered his passion for archery. After serving in the Indian Army, he made the life-changing decision to leave his military career in 2012 and focus entirely on archery coaching. This was a pivotal moment that marked the beginning of his commitment to transforming Indian archery.
With a deep understanding of the sport, having competed both nationally and internationally, Coach Vedwan set out to impart his knowledge and experience to the next generation of athletes. In 2009, he founded the Vedwan Archery Academy in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, with the aim of providing world-class training to aspiring archers.
The success of the Vedwan Archery Academy led to the establishment of more training centers across India, ensuring that athletes from different regions had access to high-quality coaching. New academies such as Gurukul Da School Archery Academy (Ghaziabad), Kanpur Dehat Archery Academy, and Ashoka Archery Academy (Puducherry) were founded between 2010 and 2013.
These academies not only became training grounds for archers but also played a crucial role in building a community of athletes who could support and learn from one another. Coach Vedwan’s mentorship extended beyond just the physical aspect of archery; his teachings focused on discipline, strategy, and mental toughness.
Coach Vedwan’s athletes have consistently made their mark on the international stage, with numerous medals at prestigious competitions such as the Para-Asian Games and the Paralympic Games. Under his guidance, Rakesh Kumar and Sheetal Devi achieved historic success at the 2024 Paris Para Olympics, winning a bronze medal in the mixed category.
In addition, Coach Vedwan’s athletes have earned Arjuna Awards, state awards, and other prestigious honors, cementing his reputation as one of India’s finest archery coaches. His involvement with the Indian Para Archery Team and his role as the National Coach during the Tokyo 2021 Paralympics further solidified his impact on the global stage.
As Coach Vedwan’s influence grew, so did his commitment to archery education. The foundation has organized multiple seminars across India in cities such as Amravati, Hyderabad, Ranchi, Panaji, and Dehradun to train coaches, elevate the standard of archery in India, and share his expertise with a broader audience. His efforts to improve coaching and create opportunities for aspiring archers have been pivotal in transforming the landscape of archery in India.
With a long list of accomplished athletes representing various prestigious institutions such as the Indian Army, Indian Railways, and the Police Forces, the foundation continues to be a beacon of excellence, producing athletes who excel both on and off the field.
Today, the Kuldeep Vedwan Sports Foundation remains at the forefront of archery development in India. Our commitment to training athletes, expanding the reach of the sport, and uplifting the quality of coaching remains steadfast. The foundation continues to build on Coach Kuldeep Vedwan’s legacy, shaping the future of Indian archery and inspiring generations to come.
Through our expanding network of academies, coaching programs, and continuous mentorship, we are determined to ensure that archery remains a prominent sport in India, with athletes ready to compete and succeed on the world stage.
